Spas and hot tubs
Spa and hot tub leak detection
A spa packs a lot of plumbing into a small space: jets, air lines, a spillway and valves that are often shared with the pool. That makes spa leaks easy to miss and hard to find without the right equipment.
- Jets, air lines and spillways
- Pool-and-spa combos
- Heater and valve connections

Where spas leak
Jet fittings
Each jet is a hole through the shell. The seals around them wear out with heat and age.
Air and water lines
Spas run separate air lines to the jets, which can crack or separate underground.
The spillway
Where an attached spa spills into the pool, cracks in the spillway or bond beam let water escape.
Valves and the heater
Diverter valves, the heater and their unions are common leak points at the equipment pad.
How we test a spa
Isolate the spa
We separate the spa from the pool and the equipment so each can be tested on its own.
Pressure test the lines
Water and air lines are pressurized individually to find which one is losing water.
Listen and dye test
Electronic listening equipment and dye pinpoint leaks at jets, the spillway and the shell.
