Why does my attached spa keep losing water?

What to observe when a raised or attached spa drops, and why the connected pool matters.

Watch both bodies of water

If your spa shares equipment with the pool, note what happens to both water levels. Does the spa drop overnight? Does the pool appear to rise? Does the spa refill when the equipment starts? These details help distinguish water moving within a connected system from water leaving it.

Several parts of the system may need attention

The spa shell, fittings, jets, plumbing and shared equipment are all possible areas to investigate. Water returning to the pool through a valve is also a possibility in some systems. The visible drop alone cannot identify the cause, and more than one issue can occur at the same time.

Describe the timing

Tell your technician whether the drop happens in pool mode, spa mode or while the equipment is idle. Mention recent valve adjustments or repairs and share photos of the water level. Avoid changing unfamiliar valves; your normal operating pattern is useful information.

Ask for testing before choosing a repair

An inspection and appropriate testing can narrow down where water is going. Share what you have observed when requesting a visit so we can discuss the connected pool and spa as a system.
